We've covered which district to pick, three Saturdays, what you can walk and what the day costs. Around 1pm the question is lunch.
Where do we eat, without turning it into another drive?
Stay in the district you already picked. A cheese board between pours is not a meal.
The Simple Version
- Hollywood is where lunch works. Three real restaurants, and you don't have to leave Hollywood to reach them. Book the table.
- Downtown is the day you never move the car. The kitchen is Brian Carter.
- West Valley is three minutes down the same road as Hollywood. The restaurant strip. Put it on a Hollywood day.
- The Warehouse will not feed you. Eat before you park, drink through it or leave.
- Then pick the meal. A restaurant, a lively room, a burger, pizza, Italian, Indian or breakfast.
Budget $40 to $80 for two. If there's a kitchen, book it the way you'd book the tasting you'd hate to miss.
If You Want a Restaurant
Three good restaurants. The difference is the kind of lunch you want.
Already tasting at DeLille? Eat there. The restaurant is suite 100, next to the 101 tasting room, so you taste, walk down the hall and sit. Lunch starts at 11:30 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. Weekend brunch runs to 4. Reservations aren't required. On a Saturday, make one.
Steak frites, pasta and a deck when it's open. Happy hour covers 2:30 to 5, all day on Thursday. The tasting room will also sell you a cheese board and truffle popcorn from the same kitchen. That's a snack. If you're in the wine club, your drink discount works at the restaurant too.
Heritage is the neighborhood restaurant, at the Hollywood Hill roundabout. Locally owned, open at 11, closed Monday. A 3:30 arrival is fine here. The kitchen doesn't close in the middle of the afternoon.
Barking Frog is the restaurant at Willows Lodge, still in Hollywood. Weekday lunch is 11 to 3. Dinner starts at 5. Don't show up at 3:30 on a Wednesday. There's nothing in between. Weekend brunch runs 7 to 3, and they want that reservation.
Book this one when lunch is the reason you stopped tasting. There's a fireplace, and they'll open a bottle you brought for $35. Two bottles to a table.
Maryhill at the Hollywood Schoolhouse is a bistro in the 1912 schoolhouse. We used it as lunch on the sample Saturday for a couple. Book the table if you're already going to Maryhill. If you're choosing a restaurant and the three above are options, pick one of those.
If You Don't Want to Move the Car
Downtown is ten rooms around Woodin Creek Village, two minutes apart on foot. Park once. Taste. Eat. Don't touch the car again until you're done.
The kitchen is Brian Carter. The bistro is next to the tasting, so you're taking a table. Book it.
If You Want Something Lively
Von's and the tavern show up as Hollywood on a lot of maps. They're three minutes down the road, in West Valley. You'll move the car once. That's the whole detour.
Von's is the lively one, next door to Novelty Hill-Januik. Sourdough, pizza, pasta and a real bar, open every day from 11 to 10. Happy hour is 2 to 6. Walk in, or use OpenTable if you want the table waiting. They give you two hours, and there's valet. Plan on a real meal.
If You Want a Burger
Hollywood Tavern is further up that same road, next to Woodinville Whiskey. It's been a roadside tavern since 1947, with a fire pit and a burger menu. Order the Hollywood burger, or the lamb burger. Weekday happy hour runs 3 to 6, while Barking Frog is closed.
Friday through Sunday they don't take reservations. Show up. They share the parking lot with the distillery, so it fills. Carpool if you can.
If You Want Pizza
Novelty Hill-Januik is the pizza you can eat without leaving the tasting room. Friday through Sunday the kitchen is actually cooking. The sample menu has a fig jam and bacon pizza and a pepperoni with spiced honey, and they change it every week. Monday through Thursday it's cheese and charcuterie. Don't count on it for a Wednesday lunch.
Vivi is the wood-fired pizza in Hollywood, if you don't want to drive over to West Valley. Open at 11. Reservations are welcome and not required. They also serve pasta, so this is the Italian option if you stay in Hollywood.
If You Want Italian
Italianissimo is the one, and you leave the Warehouse to get there. Close enough to drive. Not a walk from 144th. Saturday and Sunday, lunch starts at 12. On a weekday the door opens at 3, which is an early dinner, not a reset between tastings.
If you won't make that drive, order the pasta at Vivi.
If You Want Indian
Curry Leaf is in Woodinville Center, in town rather than next to a tasting room. You won't pass it on the way from one winery to another. Open at 11, closed Monday, with a full bar. Call if you want the table.
If Breakfast Is the Point
Maltby Cafe is the breakfast place, out in Maltby, about 14 minutes from Hollywood. Open 7 to 3. Order the cinnamon roll. One is big enough to split. Groups larger than six should call.
Go if breakfast is the reason for the trip. Don't try to fit it between two Hollywood tastings. That drive is 14 minutes each way.
The Warehouse
Nothing in the Warehouse is lunch. Forty-six tasting rooms, and what they call food is usually a cheese board, sometimes a vending machine or a Saturday food truck. Efeste has a real kitchen. It's an eight-minute walk from the rooms on 144th. Too far to wander into between tastings. Don't plan the day around it.
Eat before you park. Skip lunch on purpose. Or, on a Saturday or Sunday, drive to Italianissimo knowing you've left the district.

In Hollywood, book DeLille, Heritage or Barking Frog. DeLille if you're already in the building. Heritage if you need someplace open in the middle of the afternoon. Barking Frog if lunch is the main event and you'll be there before 3.
Three minutes down the road, Von's if the group wants a room that's actually fun. The tavern if somebody wants a burger. Novelty Hill-Januik on a weekend, if you want the pizza at the winery.

In the Warehouse, eat before you arrive, or plan on driving to lunch.
Start with Hollywood or Downtown. If the day is the Warehouse, eat first.
